Originating from a modest housing plan in 1982, Cayalá underwent a transformative journey, with urban luminary León Krier reshaping its master plan in 2003, birthing what we now know as Ciudad Cayalá—truly a paradise on earth.
Over the years, the project has flourished, introducing distinctive developments such as Foresta de Cayalá, Acacias de Cayalá, Cardales de Cayalá, and others, aimed at offering a contemporary, efficient, and comfortable lifestyle.
Nestled amidst 60 blocks of pristine natural reserves, Cayalá presents an unparalleled fusion of modern comforts and the soothing embrace of nature.
Visitors and residents alike can indulge in over 90 commercial establishments, including cafes, boutiques, and restaurants, while also partaking in a rich cultural calendar and activities year-round. Moreover, Cayalá’s commitment to sustainability is evident through extensive reforestation efforts, waste recycling initiatives, and innovative wastewater treatment practices, making it a model eco-conscious community.

Héctor Leal, General Manager of Grupo Cayalá, says that the future of the project is immense. “So far, we have only developed 45% of the area, and the market’s reaction to Cayalá has been truly amazing, as in addition to everything it offers, it is an environmentally conscious project,” he emphasized.
Also, significant reforestation work has been carried out within the site. “The place boasts the largest natural park in the entire city of Guatemala. It’s almost a hectare of land and a natural reserve. It’s also important to mention that we recycle at least 50% of the waste, and all organic waste is converted into compost to maintain our green areas. Additionally, we have several wastewater treatment plants and even reuse restaurant oil to produce biodiesel for our maintenance and security vehicles. We are a fully conscious community and are generating a chain of well-being for the country and the planet,” he highlighted.
In the Master Plan of Ciudad Cayalá, great professionals have been involved with the sole objective of realizing a city that offers comprehensive solutions to satisfy the needs of its inhabitants. Its construction began in 2010, and in 2011 the inauguration of Cardales de Cayalá and Paseo Cayalá, the first phase of Ciudad Cayalá, took place.
The year 2012 was of great importance, as it saw the birth of the Durián and Granada de Cayalá apartment buildings. Likewise, the second phase of Paseo Cayalá was opened, further expanding the commercial and office space offerings in the area. In the following years, there was significant development of luxury residential offerings with Las Ramblas, Nova, and Belesa de Cayalá, as well as the Lirios de Cayalá apartment complex.
Patricio Carvajal, the engineer leading the project, along with his team, has made Lirios de Cayalá a complete success. “This is how an experience that is only possible in a city that has it all becomes a reality, where residents can enjoy incomparable amenities in addition to finding a wide range of commercial, gastronomic, and service offerings just steps from their home,” he said.
