Ministry of Environment Unveils “Green Line” App for Environmental Complaints
Santo Domingo – The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MMARN) has introduced the “Green Line RD” app as part of its efforts to strengthen community engagement. This app aims to empower citizens in their collective commitment to environmental protection.
Minister of Environment, Miguel Ceara Hatton, announced the creation of a new department, the Department of Citizen Services and Social Participation, which will serve as a direct link with society. The launch event, attended by ministry officials from various provinces and representatives from the Zero Bureaucracy and Government Ethics Directorate, emphasized the ministry’s dedication to transparency and citizen involvement.
The “Green Line RD” app marks a significant step forward in transparency and citizen participation in environmental issues. It allows users to report environmental concerns with photos and videos, track the status of their complaints, and receive updates on actions taken by the ministry.
María del Carmen Vargas and Luz Félix, directors of Social Participation and Information Technology, highlighted the importance of the app in facilitating citizen engagement and promoting environmental conservation.
The app complements existing channels for reporting environmental issues, such as the website https://lineaverde.gob.do/, WhatsApp platform (1-849-356-6400), and toll-free phone numbers (809-567-4300 ext 8000 or 1-809-200-6400 from within the country).
The “Green Line RD” app represents a proactive approach by the Ministry of Environment to involve citizens in environmental stewardship and ensure a sustainable future for all.
