The National Museum Dr. José Gaspar Rodríguez de Francia presents “Faces of Memory: An Exhibition on the Memory of Paraguayan Ceramics and a Tribute to Rosalina Robles,” an exhibition that will be open throughout the month of June.
The exhibition pays special tribute to the pottery tradition of Yaguarón, highlighting the work of Rosalina Robles, recognized as a Living National Treasure and guardian of the tradition of crafting the plate used to make Mbejú Tova. Rosalina, one of the custodians of a practice considered an Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Nation, is an heir and master of this emblematic local ceramic art.
Through a collection of photographs, sourced from the social media of the Municipality of Yaguarón and the Paraguayan Institute of Crafts, her technique and legacy are celebrated.
In addition to ceramic pieces, the exhibition features documents that serve as safeguards of artisanal knowledge and techniques. These documents emphasize the importance of preserving and passing on these traditions, reports the Ministry of Culture of Paraguay.
This exhibition offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the cultural richness of Paraguay, recognizing and celebrating the work of artisans like Rosalina Robles, who keep a centuries-old tradition alive.
Throughout “Faces of Memory,” visitors can explore textures, aesthetics, and memories through the craft of Paraguayan potters.
The exhibition will be open to the public throughout June at the National Museum Doctor Francia, from Wednesday to Sunday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Admission is free.
