Mexican President Urges Tulum to Shelter Ahead of Hurricane Beryl
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has called on the residents of Tulum to move to higher ground, shelters, or the homes of family and friends away from the area expected to be hit by Hurricane Beryl in the early hours of Friday, July 5, according to the storm’s projected path.
“Don’t hesitate. Material things can be recovered. The most important thing is life,” emphasized the President in his message.
On social media, the President alerted the people of Quintana Roo about the category 3 hurricane.

The National Coordination of Civil Protection (CNPC) reports that Beryl continues its path toward the Yucatán Peninsula and is heading towards Tulum, near the municipality of Solidaridad and the island of Cozumel.
The CNPC advises people to stay in their homes if they are safe or in shelters and only go outside once authorities indicate the danger has passed. People should stay away from windows that could break, remain calm, and stay informed.
