FITCuba 2025

New Alliances and Routes Boost Cuban Tourism

Cuba’s Tourism Fair, FITCuba 2025

Havana has just wrapped up a dynamic and ambitious week of tourism diplomacy, innovation, and celebration at FITCuba 2025, the island’s premier tourism fair. The event showcased Cuba’s growing global ties, reinforced its position as a key Caribbean destination, and launched new initiatives designed to make tourism a pillar of national development.

Regional Integration and Strategic Cooperation

A highlight of the week was the VII Meeting of Ministers and High Tourism Authorities of ALBA-TCP, held alongside FITCuba. It was here that Cuba signed academic tourism cooperation agreements with Venezuela and Honduras, aiming to strengthen professional training and human capital across the region.

Technical working sessions brought together representatives from ALBA countries to design strategies for multi-destination packages, improved air connectivity, and sustainable development—all key to regional tourism growth.

A Vibrant FITCuba 2025 and a Look Ahead

With China as the guest country of honor, FITCuba 2025 became a bustling hub of cultural exchange, business meetings, and strategic alliances. The closing celebration, held at the iconic Tropicana Cabaret, honored the friendships and deals forged throughout the fair. Looking ahead, Canada was announced as the guest country for FITCuba 2026, marking a new chapter in Cuba’s international tourism outreach.

President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz toured the fair, exploring innovations from national companies like Gaviota, Iberostar, and the Matanzas Science and Technology Park, further deepening cooperation with China in both tourism and tech.

A Cultural Bond with China

The Karl Marx Theatre hosted an artistic gala, blending Cuban and Chinese music, dance, and tradition to celebrate the cultural friendship between the two nations.

This spirit of partnership was echoed in the Cuba-China Business Forum, held at the Meliá Cohiba Hotel. Hotel groups like Cubanacán, Gaviota, and Gran Caribe presented investment opportunities, reaffirming tourism as a shared engine for growth.

Major Launches and Anniversaries

The fair also marked a series of launches and milestones:

Cubana de Aviación announced a new direct air route connecting Cuba and Germany, set to begin in November.

Gaviota Tours celebrated its 30th anniversary, reinforcing its role in expanding tourism services.

The return of “Sol de Cuba” magazine was unveiled—now in a refreshed digital and print format. The relaunch pays tribute to Cuba’s beauty and culture, with its first new edition dedicated to China.

A Celebration of Havana and Beyond

On May 1st, the Nicolás Guillén Hall at Morro-Cabaña became the focal point for showcasing Havana’s tourism strengths. Panels explored nightlife, heritage tourism, and brand innovation—highlighting how Cuba is modernizing while staying true to its essence. Tourism workers also joined the May Day Parade, proudly demonstrating their commitment to making Cuba a welcoming destination.

The festival spirit continued with a family celebration on May 3rd, featuring music, food, and fun at Morro-Cabaña and La Piragua, wrapping up FITCuba with color, flavor, and community spirit.
