2024 Teacher Competition in Honduras
Honduras Teacher Competition 2024. When will the exam be held and how many teachers will participate?
Thousands of teachers are getting ready to participate in the upcoming competition, scheduled for mid-January 2024, reports Tu Nota.
Since mid-December of the previous month, the Ministry of Education began registrations for the 2024 teacher competition, which will take place from January 22 to 26.
The exams will be conducted in each of the 18 departments, and the dates will vary based on the function, level, position, and specialty of the vacancies, which were published through an online document.
On Monday, January 22, the test will be administered for elementary school teachers, corresponding to those who registered to become a director or subdirector.
A day later, the exam will be for the direct regional position in elementary school, meaning all those applying for the position of director or subdirector of a center.
On the 24th, the regional competition will take place, on Thursday the 25th the departmental competition, and finally, on Friday the 26th, the regional competition for the third cycle.
How many teachers will participate?
It is estimated that at least 50,000 teachers will participate in this new teacher competition, including those who already have a position and the unemployed.
In early December of the previous year, teachers protested in front of the Presidential House because some participants in the 2022 competition had not been given any positions.
However, this time it is expected to be different, as a scanner will be used to review the exam, which will help in obtaining results faster. It is expected that the names of those who passed will be available by mid-February.
Vacant positions
The Ministry of Education reported that there are vacant positions in the permanent structures of pre-primary, primary, and middle school.
It is known that there are more than 2,000 positions for the pre-primary and primary levels, as well as more than 92,000 class hours in middle education.
It is estimated that more than 50,000 teachers, including those who already have a position and those who are unemployed, will participate.
Currently, about 30,000 educators are correcting the documentation they submitted, said the board’s secretary. Flores explained that this year the process will be different from the previous one.
“The exams are created by professionals from the National Pedagogical University Francisco Morazán; the test will consist of a booklet with 100 questions and an answer sheet,” he explained. A scanner will be used to review the exams, with the hope of obtaining results more quickly, reports El Heraldo.
“The review will not be manual; the idea is that on Monday, the 22nd, when the first test is administered, the exams for Francisco Morazán and Cortés, which are the largest departments, will be reviewed on the same day.”
The authorities of the Ministry of Education estimate that by mid-February, when classes begin, the teachers who passed the competition will be appointed. There are more than 2,000 positions available for pre-basic and basic levels, and over 92,000 class hours in secondary education.
