Vice President Karin Herrera met with representatives from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Guatemala City.
The gathering aimed to discuss initiatives supporting women and migration.
Vice President Karin Herrera held talks with representatives from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to address issues related to women, migrants, and the economy, as reported by AGN, Guatemala on February 8.
During the meeting, Vice President Herrera emphasized the importance of promoting policies that empower women and create new opportunities for their involvement in political and leadership roles.
Discussions also focused on enhancing initiatives that foster collaboration between the public and private sectors to advance women’s leadership in economic, political, and social development.
The Vice President stressed the need for actions promoting equitable development in Guatemala and across Central America.
Migration Focus
The meeting addressed proposals to tackle migration in Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras. Emphasis was placed on comprehensive engagement of all relevant sectors to achieve positive outcomes.
Additionally, strategies were discussed for developing programs and policies to narrow the gender gap and enhance job opportunities with a focus on equity.
Attention was also drawn to maintaining a balanced approach to caring for and nurturing the Guatemalan population.
IDB in Guatemala
Recently, the 37th meeting of governors of the IDB, Central America, and the Dominican Republic took place.
President Bernardo Arévalo attended, highlighting his government’s efforts to ensure the well-being of the entire region, not just its population.
The meeting brought together governors, finance ministers, and IDB representatives to address the region’s macroeconomic outlook and collective challenges.
