The Great Getaway: Mexico’s Tourism Weekend Sale

“La Gran Escapada: El Buen Fin del Turismo”

With information from Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism

From May 30 to June 1, 2025, travelers across Mexico took advantage of La Gran Escapada: El Buen Fin del Turismo, a national initiative that offered major discounts on tourism services throughout the country. The event was organized by Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism (Sectur) in collaboration with the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (Concanaco Servytur) and the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco).

According to the Secretary of Tourism, more than 6,000 tourism service providers participated, extending promotions on everything from all-inclusive travel packages to air, land, and maritime transportation, hotel stays, restaurants, museums, guided tours, and more. Deals were accessible through the official website lagranescapada.com.mx, the mobile app, and participating establishments nationwide.

Some of the sectors represented included:

1,096 travel agencies

3,076 lodging providers

305 tour operators

69 convention centers

82 museums and exhibitions

251 theme and ecotourism parks

709 restaurants and bars

60 health services

188 transportation companies

In addition to offering discounts, the program ensured that consumers purchased services from formally registered businesses, recognized by the National Tourism Registry and backed by Profeco, providing added consumer confidence.

The campaign aimed to boost domestic tourism, support small and medium-sized enterprises, generate employment, and encourage sustainable practices across the country. It also sought to deepen the positive social impact of tourism by fostering inclusivity and widespread participation in one of Mexico’s most dynamic sectors.

Chambers and associations from all 32 states of Mexico joined the initiative, reinforcing the shared commitment to make tourism a true engine of social well-being.

The event ends on June 1, highlighting strong interest in affordable, community-focused tourism and paving the way for future efforts to boost Mexico’s tourism industry.
